Longo Brothers Fruit Markets Inc.is a family owned business which was started byTommy, Joe and Gus Longo in 1956. The first store was located on Yonge Street and Castlefield, in Toronto. The first location was no more than 2, 000 square feet. They had eight people working in the store which were all family members. In 1962, the Longo brothers opened their second store on Woodbine Avenue. Since then, the Longo family has been involved in every aspect of the business. To this day, team members of Longo's still go to the Ontario Food Terminal six days a week (6:00 am) to purchase the produce we have in our stores. ?
With our roots in vegetables and fruits, you will notice the emphasis put on the quality, freshness and variety of our fresh departments. Also, in addition to our fresh departments you will enjoy our extensive assortment of grocery, dairy, frozen and Longo's private label products. These choices truly make our stores a one stop, shopping experience.
From the beginning Longo's has built a reputation on a strong commitment to quality, service and value. ?
Since 1998, our Foundation has made grants, donations, and pledges totalling over $1.5 million for children’s and women’s charities in our local communities.
Our charitable giving supports programs and projects that are innovative, sustainable and results-oriented. By establishing innovative partnerships that generate productive results, we are committed to finding creative ways to achieve our mission.
Longo’s Giving Programs donate a sizable portion of its charitable giving budget to the Foundation. As well, proceeds from Longo’s Annual “Fore Kids’ Sake” Charitable Golf Tournament are distributed through the Foundation.
