The North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is a new state-of-the-art hospital providing district acute care services to North Bay and surrounding communities and specialized mental health services to all of northeast Ontario.
NBRHC is an amalgamation of the North Bay General Hospital and the Northeast Mental Health Centre as of April 1, 2011.
NBRHC has capacity for 275 acute care beds; 113 specialized mental health beds at the main North Bay site; 31 adult specialized mental health beds and six Regional Children’s Psychiatric Centre beds at its Sudbury site–Kirkwood Place; and numerous outpatient and outreach services in North Bay and throughout the northeast region.
NBRHC’s District Hospital acute care services have been provided to families of North Bay and its surrounding communities for over 100 years. NBRHC works closely with smaller community hospitals in the area—Mattawa, Temiscaming and West Nipissing General Hospitals—and provides specialist services to these communities. It is one of four major acute care hospitals serving northeast Ontario; the others being Sault Area Hospital, Timmins and District Hospital and Health Sciences North (Sudbury).
