In reality you are hiring someone to do a job. And, not an inconsequential job. Whether you are buying or selling a home you are looking for someone to help with your real estate needs. Likely your biggest investment. You should actually "interview" candidates-at least 2-4. You want to feel confident you choose the right person. Determine what's most important to you and set your questions around your criteria.
For example, ask for referrals. Each year a greater amount of my business comes from past clients. This is a good testament to the level of service you should expect from your realtor.
